Nigeria: 75 Percent Local Content Requirement Will Help Digital TV Services

The Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission of Nigeria, Alhaji Issaq Modibo-Kawu has stated that the requirement for a 75 percent local content for TV and Radio platforms in the country will facilitate the adoption and growth of digital broadcasting services in Nigeria.

Discussing the issue with the industry press Nigeria, Alhaji Modibo-Kawu said the mandated local content directive would enable local content developers and publishers to flourish, delivering some of the benefits digital migration.

About the development of local content to occupy the 75 percent requirement, industry experts are in agreement that while the Nigeria space has an adequate amount of content, it does still need lots of organisation.
