Startimes Collaborates With Govt. To Provide Digital TV Services In Rural Rwanda

The Rwanda government is working with the Chinese firm Startimes to help improve access to digital broadcasting and information in the country. Press reports from Kigali indicate that a USD 92 million initiative has been launched that will see up to 400,000 households in rural Rwanda provided with digital TV sets and equipment.

Startimes will provide the digital TV sets and other customer premises equipment, with the recipients expected to pay for the items in instalment over a period of six years. It is not clear whether Startimes was receiving any government financial guarantees for the project.
