Netflix Refuses To Pay Fee And Give Content For Classification In South Africa

South Africa's Film and Publication Board (FPB) has urged Netflix to pay the online content distributor fee and submit content for classification. Otherwise, it will fall foul of regulations.

According to reports from the organisation, Netflix is among the many online distributors not complying with the FPB Act.

Even as some regulatory and legal experts believe that FPB is out of its boundaries with regards to requiring Netflix to register as an "online content distributor", officials from the FPB are insisting that the current fee structure will stand as law until a competent court pronounces otherwise. Saying that the country had rules and that the FPB was accountable in ensuring that the industry complied with the Film and Publications Act.
