Nigeria's NBC To Shut Down Stations Over USD16 Million Unpaid Debt

The Nigerian Broadcast Industry Regulator, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has issued a stern warning to all the broadcasting stations in the country that are owing it licencing fees to pay within three weeks of risk being shut down.

The organisation's CEO Mr Is’haq Modibo Kawu gave this ultimatum last week at an industry stakeholders meeting in the Abuja, Nigeria.

According to him, his organisation is owed debts to the tune of N5billion ($15.9million) in unpaid license fees.
