South Africa: SABC Appoints New Acting COO

The SABC has announced that Sylvia Tladi has been appointed as the new Acting Chief Operations Officer (COO) with immediate effect.
The broadcaster released a statement saying that the appointment is in line with ensuring the continuity of business and Ms Tladi is the best individual for the Acting COO role, while the organisation wraps up the process of appointing a permanent Chief Operations Officer.

Tladi has 21 years of experience in many different business environments, 15 years of which were management roles. Her experience includes managing collection litigation processes, the overseeing of operational processes, compliance management, as well as customer services management.

Tladi joined the national broadcaster in 2004 as the Manager of Business Accounts -TV Licences and then became the Compliance Manager of Business & Retailer Accounts -TV Licences in 2011.
The SABC said that Tladi was then promoted to Acting Head of TV Licences in 2012 before being permanently appointed for the role on 1 May 2013.

The statement issued by the SABC said that in this role, Tladi’s main focus would be on the generation of revenue through the collection of TV Licence fees, as well as managing the entire TV licence value chain and implementing the critical business strategies in order to boost funding for the delivery of the national broadcaster’s public mandate.

Tladi holds a B.Proc from the University of North West, a Certificate in Compliance Management obtained from the University of Johannesburg and has also completed the Management Advancement Programme (MAP) at Wits Business School.
